THEY’RE jaw-dropping, have out-of-this-world features and sell for millions of dollars.

The top 10 Gold Coast property sales of 2017 included an array of waterfront residences from Hope Island to Palm Beach.

But there was one noticable absence – despite the city being known for its high-rises there were no apartment sales in the top 10.

The Coast’s mega mansions dominated the list with two selling for $16.5 million each to tie for the top spot.

The Gold Coast trumped Brisbane, with an Ascot home which sold for $8.8 million coming in as the capital city’s biggest sale.

While millions of dollars behind Sydney’s top sale – a Double Bay mansion that sold for a cool $71 million – the Gold Coast was hot on the heels of Melbourne with Victoria’s largest sale coming in at $16.8 million for a Toorak house.

So which properties made up the Gold Coast’s top sales for 2017? CoreLogic has complied the tops sales from across the Coast. Take a look:

Of the two top sales on the Coast, one was a “secret home” at Hope Island that changed hands in July.

A Vietnamese businessman bought the waterfront residence at 2620-2622 Virginia Drive in an off-market deal through Wendy and Warren Hickey from Hope Island Resort Realty.

“We weren’t allowed to take any photos until after it had sold,” Ms Hickey said.

“It is really hard to sell a secret but a home with this calibre attracts a lot of wealthy attention.

Spanning across three blocks, the entrance to the 3,227sq m property is grand with a double gated entry, porte-cochere and sweeping staircase.

But the sale was $8.5 million shy of last year’s mammoth $25 million sale of former Billabong executive Scott Perrin’s Mermaid Beach mansion.

While the 30m of beach frontage is one of its best assets, the mansion also comes with a lift, basement for seven cars, sauna, cocktail bar and a gym.

“It was listed for $19.75 million last year but as soon as we adjusted the price to $16.995 million we had a frenzy of buyers and they were all qualified buyers with genuine offers,” agent Luke Henderson said.
