Gold Coast City council has authorised plans for a new Coomera Civic Hub development project on the northern Gold Coast to progress.
The three level building is described as the “city’s first regional integrated community facility”, with the proposed development to be built on land adjoining the Westfield Coomera.
A spokesperson for the Gold Coast City council wouldn’t confirm costs of the project, and said that the “city is continuing to negotiate the commercial terms of the arrangement”.
“Much of the details around the project, including design and funding, are commercial in confidence,” the spokesperson said.
“Once agreed, appropriate contractual arrangements would be executed and the detailed design, approvals and construction then undertaken [with] a funding plan to be submitted to council.”
Described as a “one-stop-shop” facility at Coomera Town Centre, the preliminary design includes a councillor’s office, state-of-the-art library, multi-purpose community centre, youth hub, co-working space for not-for-profits, auditorium and a customer service centre.
Construction on HOTA Gallery
The six-level “Home of the Arts” HOTA gallery has reached its topping out milestone after kicking off construction in April last year.
The $60.5 million gallery, delivered by construction company Hansen Yuncken, is the tallest building structure Gold Coast City has undertaken, located near Surfers Paradise.
Representatives from City of Gold Coast, HOTA, ARM Architecture and builder Hansen Yuncken trowelled the last pour of concrete atop the building to mark the completion of the project’s structural phase.

Another apartment tower lodged in hot Gold Coast market
Plans have been lodged for Alba Residences, a $105 million apartment project at North Burleigh.
Developers can’t stay away from the booming Gold Coast market.
The longstanding Queenslander developer Devine Development Group is the latest to join the ever-growing index not wanting to miss out on the current Gold Coast apartment demand.
They’ve lodged plans for Alba Residences, a $105 million apartment project at North Burleigh.
Set on the dress circle Esplanade facing the beach, the 21 level tower designed by Bureau Proberts will comprise half and full floor residences catering for the top end of the market, with prices starting from $2.25 million.
The full floor apartments will span around 435 sqm and will have four bedrooms, a multi-purpose room, and four bathrooms, while the collection of half-floor apartments will have around 218 sqm of living space with three bedrooms.
The Melbourne-based Mim Design are handling the interior. There will be a lifestyle podium for residents where there will be a swimming pool and a gym.
It will sit on Esplanade, just down the road from 88 Burleigh, the $90 million tower by Allure Property Corporation.
The seashell-inspired, 17-level tower on The Esplanade, across from Burleigh Heads beach, will home just 31 apartments..
Demand for apartments in Burleigh Heads continues to soar as a surge of interstate buyers is creating a critical shortage of supply, particularly for three bedroom apartments which are being snapped up by downsizers.
Adam Young of Burleigh Heads’ Black and Young Real Estate, who has been selling real estate in the area for over three decades, says he has never seen the market in Burleigh so strong.
Burleigh is the ‘go to’ destination on the Gold Coast as a lifestyle, entertainment and dining precinct and real estate sales are reflecting the suburb’s newfound popularity.
“The market is very strong, driven by interstate migration and downsizers who see apartment living in Burleigh Heads as under-valued given its central location and the national park setting which is not unlike Noosa,” Young says.
Veteran developer and Devine Development Group head David Devine said Alba would be one of the enduring luxury apartment projects for Burleigh Heads and the timing to enter the market could not be better.

Sunshine Coast apartment demand continues as Cube sell-out one development, launch another
Cube’s latest offering is Seasons by Cube, which Juniper says is a much more budget conscious apartment development in Birtinya
Demand for apartments is not letting up on the Sunshine Coast.
Cube Developments, led by veteran developer Scott Juniper, have secured a sell out of their $27 million apartment project One Prosperity in the small waterfront suburb of Birtinya, and are soon to sell all of the apartments in their boutique Mooloolaba project Picasso.
Picasso saw high demand from investors from Sydney and Melbourne, and Juniper says the trend, which he’s seen across the whole of the portfolio, isn’t slowing down.
“The demand on the Sunshine Coast has been exceptional,” Juniper says.
“We had a much higher increase in both investor demand and owner occupier demand from Melbourne and Sydney,” Juniper says, adding that there are still high number of owner-occupiers moving from the southern states to the Sunshine Coast.
“People are still not tied to the city, there’s been no change to that”, Juniper says.
Investors are still keen from Sydney and Melbourne, with the vacancy rate holding firm at record lows of around 0.5 per cent.
Cube’s latest offering is Seasons by Cube, which Juniper says is a much more budget conscious apartment development in Birtinya.
The majority of stock in the development of 146 apartments is under $600,000, with it focused on bringing an affordable product to the market.
Prices start from $495,000.
Cube only have a handful of apartments left at another one of their Birtinya developments, Curve, which is set for completion in July.
“There are quite a few people in the market looking to move immediately, reflected by the area’s very low vacancy rate”, Juniper suggests, adding that that gives Curve an advantage in the current market that the product will be available to move in in just a few months.
Cube have their premium product, Nature at Cotton Tree in Maroochydore, overlooking Rotary Park and the Maroochy River.
Juniper told Cottee Parker Architects to deliver the best the Sunshine Coast has ever seen.
“Nature allowed me to do some things you couldn’t do in other developments”, Juniper says of the boutique 13 apartment development. The ground floor is dedicated tp communal space and facilities including a 25-metre lap pool, gym, steam room and sauna and yoga studio, as well as barbecue areas and a private dining area.
Cube are also in the planning stages of one of their best projects to date in Alexandra Headland.
