A Brisbane home dubbed the ‘James Bond House’ for its sleek lines and sexy features has sold for $5.1m to a celebrity couple.
A BRISBANE home dubbed the ‘James Bond House’ for its sleek lines and sexy features has sold for $5.1 million to a celebrity power couple.
Supercar driver Liam Talbot and his TV personality wife, Charli Robinson, are the new owners of their “dream home” at 558 London Road, Chandler, which features two secret staircases and a massive garage that can accommodate up to 22 cars.
Despite not coming with the fast cars, lethal weapons and glamorous women characteristic of a 007 flick, the property was one of the most popular listings in Australia when it first hit the market last year.
The timing of its sale couldn’t be better given the upcoming release of No Time To Die — the 25th official Bond movie and, apparently, the last to star Daniel Craig.
Mr Talbot and Ms Robinson had been looking for a home close to the city with easy access to the freeway, with plenty of space and privacy for their family.
The couple made headlines when Mr Talbot popped the question during a live television interview at the Bathurst 1000 in October last year.
They have since had a daughter called Kensington, who is one.
“Truthfully, we’ve found our dream home,” Ms Robinson said.
“It’s everything we’ve been looking for and we are so excited to create family memories for years to come.”
The pair fell in love with the design of the house — being on one level with plenty of space to entertain and have visitors.
The grounds were also a major factor in their decision, providing a lot of open space for kids and privacy.
Mr Talbot was quoted in the Gold Coast Bulletin earlier this year as saying his new year’s resolution was; “To create the best garage in the world. Don’t laugh, it’s my dream and this year I want to do that at home”.
Marketing agent Tyson Clarke of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty – Brisbane said the home had Brisbane’s biggest residential garage.
“I sold the famous Batman tunnel house in Ascot for $8.8 million, which had a secret tunnel to a 10-car underground garage,” Mr Clarke said.
“This has a similar feel, but this garage is double that and can accommodate anywhere from 14 to 22 cars underground in the garage.
“As far as I’m aware, it’s the biggest residential garage in Brisbane.”
Mr Clarke said the property attracted huge interest, with potential buyers flying in from Hong Kong, New Zealand and across the country.
“It had the biggest number of people through its first open home that I’ve ever seen,” he said.
“It’s just a spectacular home; the finishes, how big it s, and the design — you don’t normally see a house of that design and size around Brisbane.”
The sale sets a new record for the suburb, with the previous highest sale in Chandler of
$4.03 million set by a property at 303 Archer Street in August last year.
Despite having built their “dream home”, the previous owners Hubert and Anita Meier were looking to downsize as their children had moved overseas.
The house itself occupies 1533 sqm of living space, including six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, and sits on a massive 1.01ha of land.
There is also a separate apartment with two bedrooms, one bathroom and its own two-car garage.
Other features include a 45 sqm wine cellar with its own kitchenette and tasting facilities, a state-of-the-art home theatre as well as an outdoor cinema in the pool, an all-black kitchen with butler’s pantry, an outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, an office, a home automation system and a gym.
